What Is Eyelash Tinting

Eyelash tinting is the process of applying semi-permanent dye that has been formulated specifically for the use on eyelashes. Once the dye has been applied to the eyelashes it gives a similar effect to that of mascara. One big difference between mascara and eyelash tinting is that if you step outside and the weather takes a turn for the worse, you won’t be left with the dredged panda eyes that we have all grown to hate after a night out.

Before booking your eyelash tint, there is a couple of questions you may wish to ask your chosen salon first:

  • How long will your newly dyed lashes last?
  • What shade of dye will look best on your lashes?
  • Do you need a patch test before your treatment?

When it comes to beauty and looking fabulous, there is a few questions that always crop up in the industry from customers like you. One of the most popular questions we receive is, “how long will my lashes stay this colour”. Our lashes at the TSL last anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks after your appointment, this enables you to get the most out of your lashes without having to worry about fading colours or patches. Accompanying this question in terms of popularity is also, “how can I pick the perfect colour/darkness for my eyes”. Our expert beauty therapists are experts for a reason, if you are having trouble picking your shade and darkness or its your first eyelash tint, our beauty therapist will be more than happy to assist in selecting a shade and darkness.

One of our other most asked questions and also surprises is in regards to patch test. People sometimes don’t know what a patch test is and also some people are confused as to why they need to take a patch test at each salon they visit. The reasoning behind having a patch test is actually really simple and is all about your safety during your treatment and also after your treatment.

What Is A Patch Test?

A patch test is a test carried out 24 hours before your eyelash tint which determines how your skin reacts to the salons products, if your skin reacts badly to the products the salon uses then it’s better to find out before the treatment than after when it’s too late. The TSL takes your safety and beauty very seriously and will refuse to complete and eyelash tint without one as we put our customers health and safety first. You will find that after around a year or if a salon changes product, you will have to take another patch test to ensure your skin is still reacting nicely to the product that is used.
